Now census investigates internet access, cellphone

For the first time in the history of the Population and Housing Census, Internet access, cell phone ownership, and mother tongue will be included in the questionnaire for this year's National Housing and Population Census that starts in August.

However, Home Based Care questionnaire will be excluded because the Central Statistics says data for such is available from inter-censal surveys and administration records.

This year's census will take place during the school terms. The CSO says this is likely to distort some data, as students at boarding schools will be enumerated at their hostels, thereby including them at localities where the institutions are located.
