No remote area allowance for Dibete workers - MoA

Dibete farms are not a remote area and therefore workers there will not receive remote area allowance, the Ministry of Agriculture has declared.

In an interview with Mmegi yesterday, Principal Public Relations at the ministry, Boikhutso Rabasha said that workers there do not deserve a remote area allowance since they are not in a remote area. These are 43 staff members, six being permanent and pensionable while 37 are industrial class workers, she indicated.

Dibete is about 48 kilometres from Mochudi and about 80 kilometres from Mahalapye.  Some ostrich farm workers from the Dibete are aggrieved about the matter, especially that they are aware that the employer, the Directorate of Public Service Management had sent a directive to all government ministries and departments, including their ministry, asking them to provide the number of employees at remote areas for allowance payments.
