No progress yet in Khama extradition

Almost two months after the State indicated that it would like to extradite former president Ian Khama into the country to face criminal charges related to alleged illegal possession of firearms, no progress has been made yet.

On June 6, 2022 Khama was supposed to appear before court with his co-accused but he was a no-show and the State was quick to tell court that it would apply for extradition as it had failed to serve him with the charge sheet.

The former president is facing 14 charges as the first former president to face criminal charges post his tenure.
