No plans for bridge at Zanzibar

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Director of the Department of Roads, Ephraim Masimega has said that there is no bridge planned for Zanzibar border post in Tswapong north.

He says that due to the volume of traffic, priority has been given to constructing the same at Plaartjan border post in Bobirwa.

He says his department has a budget allocation for the bridge at either Plaartjan or Zanzibar but said their investigations revealed that they should target Plaartjan during the current National Development Plan 9. Masimega added that the design and tendering has already begun and said the design may take up to nine months. He, however, said as plans for NDP 10 are ongoing, he hopes the Zanzibar bridge will be in the process. Residents of Tsetsebjwe village recently expressed the need for the government to construct a bridge at the Zanzibar border post.
