*High Commissioner fails to attend special service at Westminster Abbey

However, here in London, the seat of Botswana's first foreign mission, it was as dry as the Kgalagadi Desert in winter. Since 2006, the Botswana High Commission here has stopped staging the Independence celebrations.

The Secretary to the High Commissioner, Ambrosia Matsetse, explains it in terms of priorities: "Due to financial constraints, Independence celebrations are not on our priority list," he told Mmegi recently.
