No gatherings of 50 or Jail

The proposed Gaborone City by-law stipulates that any gathering of 50 people or more who do not have permits will be thrown in jail.

Funerals, weddings and church gatherings, all of which traditionally attract unsolicited  high attendance, could be affected by the proposed by-law if it goes through.The proposed Gaborone city by-law has set tongues wagging  as once again, Batswana fear this law could be further  targeting beer guzzlers, party animals and night crawlers.

The  proposed by-law, known as the Events and Promotions By-law 2013 was presented to  Gaborone city full council last week and is currently seeking public opinion before returning to the Gaborone full council for debate, and possibly adoption.However, facebook updates, and local radio stations have been in panic mode with well known ruling Party activist Regional Kgosi, amongst the alarmed ones.
