No certificate, no business with govt - PPADB

The Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board (PPADB) has said that the Contractor Registration Certificate will become mandatory from August 15, 2012. Therefore, all contractors operating in Botswana must register with the board to do business with the government.

PPADB has said any bidder or contractor wishing to do business with the government will be required to have registered with the board and to present the registration certificate when tendering. The PPADB Act states that every contractor has to posses the registration certificate.

This follows the new rules by PPADB to suspend or de-list contractors and affiliated parties found guilty of bribery, taking kickbacks, collusion, fronting, conflict of interest, uncompetitive and unfair dealing, unprofessional conduct and incompetence. The PPADB Act empowers the Board to keep records of registered contractors and maintain discipline within them.
