No BDF exodus, says army commander

He said that though some officers retired recently it could not be said to be an exodus because many of them had served the (maximum) 20 years in the national army. He added that though BDF recruits highly qualified young cadets, some of them find working conditions in the military unsuitable, contrary to their expectations, and choose to change careers in the early years of service or training.

This, he said, is not unique to Botswana because throughout the world the military is facing competition from other sectors, especially the private sector, which offers competitive salaries.
