No arrest yet in NRH murder

FRANCISTOWN: Police have refuted media reports that they have made an arrest in connection with the recent murder of a Zambian radiographer.

Officer commanding Number 15 District Senior Superintendent Alakanani Makobo vehemently denied making arrests after he was quoted in a local midweek newspaper as having said police have a suspect in custody. "We have not made any arrests but we are working around the clock to nail the culprits. Maybe the reporter who wrote that we have made an arrest has a hearing problem," he said. Makobo further said information from the public would help them in their investigations. "We appeal to members of the public to assist us locate the alleged perpetrators."

The 41-year-old woman who was employed at Nyangabwe Referral Hospital (NRH) as a radiographer was found dead in her Area A Botswana Housing Corporation (BHC) house on Saturday afternoon by neighbours who subsequently notified the police. The robbers reportedly also stole valuables from the deceased's house. Makobo has refused to divulge the deceased woman's name. "We are yet to meet the parents of the deceased who only arrived from Zambia a few days ago." He added that they will assist the family with the necessary arrangements. "After meeting the parents we will confirm arrangements of conveying the deceased's corpse to Zambia. We intend to work closely with the Zambian Embassy in Botswana who have been notified of the death," Makobo explained.
