NGOs call for climate justice

The world has had enough talk and no action on climate change. Now a group of non-governmental organisations in Botswana wants action. The groups, under the auspices of the Botswana Council of Non-governmental.

Organisations (BOCONGO) yesterday petitioned world leaders to discuss with honesty climate change issues at the coming COP 17 meeting that is scheduled for Durban towards the end of November.

The groups, which have partnered with the Norwegian Council of Churches, include the Botswana Council of Churches  (BCC), Botswana Khwedom Council, Ditshwanelo, University of Botswana Model United Nation (UB MUN)."You must be fair, honest and committed to treating the Earth and people with respect at the climate summit in Durban. Moral principles - and not profit and economic gain should be applied in the negotiations in order to secure our common goal," the groups said in exhortation to world leaders.
