Embattled Bakgatla sovereign Kgosi Kgafela II was the epitomy of joy as he joined an 850-strong regiment that was led by his eldest son and heir to the throne, Matshego, at the Mochudi Kgotla on Saturday morning.

Perhaps it was the joy of a father that his son had been exemplary in leading his contemporaries through rigorous rites of passage necessary to become responsible men and good citizens.
