New lodge rouses CKGR skeletons for Sesana

Recent reports of an award to establish a lodge inside the controversial Central Kgalagadi Game Reserve did not sit well with leader of the First People of the Kgalagadi, ROY SESANA. News reports about the project drove him to pour his heart out to staff writer, TSHIRELETSO MOTLOGELWA, who tells the story about the unfolding conflict between Basarwa and the government over their rights to a livelihood inside the CKGR.

Roy Sesana has a bit of a problem. Well, a major problem right now. Yesterday morning, Sesana walks into Mmegi offices seeming agitated. His glasses look lower than usual, eyes staring from above the rims. He looked fresh. He stands at the door, and then walks out to the park where the sun shines. He takes out a cigarette and lights it. He starts to puff slowly, thoughtfully. Sesana explains how he was pained to learn that something sinister is happening inside the park. A company called the Safari and Adventure Co was this week granted permission to build a lodge inside the Central Kgalagadi Game Reserve.

The Safari & Adventure Company is one of the multitudes of companies that span the southern African sub-continent offering everything from luxurious lodging to "no frills" camping tourist escapades.
