Police in Selebi Phikwe are investigating a murder case in which a 24-year-old allegedly fatally assaulted his uncle at the Tapalaphala cattle post on Sunday.

Revealing the details of this unexpected incident at the cattle post to Mmegi Online, Phikwe Police Station's Commander Nicholas Letlakadiatla shared that it appears the 24-year-old nephew viciously attacked his uncle looking at the latter's severe injuries after receiving a report.

"We received a report that there is a matter that needs our urgent attention at Tapalaphala. We rushed to the scene where we found the 49-year-old man with fresh injuries all over his body and his head barely moving," sadly stated Letlakadiatla. Furthermore, Letlakadiatla conveyed that the uncle was swiftly transported to the hospital, where, unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Meanwhile, the station commander stated that the 24-year-old nephew is currently in their custody. "We have apprehended the 24-year-old, who is our main suspect, and we hope he will provide a full account of what happened on that fateful day," he said.

The station commander also mentioned that they had requested post-mortem results to determine if the deceased uncle succumbed to the injuries he sustained. Letlakadiatla implored the public to refrain from engaging in conflicts and to promote a peaceful coexistence to prevent such tragic incidents.
