Louis Nchindo once counted former Botswana President Festus Mogae as his close friend. Now the flashy 67-year-old faces 32 criminal charges, ranging from giving false information to a government official, to forgery, conspiracy to defraud and stealing money in a trial that promises to raise temperatures between the two men.

Escaping the heat from the case, which is rocking his country, Nchindo has been staying at his luxury three- storey Camps Bay home in Cape Town - purchased in 2006 for R15.1-million, according to Deeds Office records.
