Mutangi murder case gains momentum

There was a lively legal battle at the Gaborone High Court on Monday in relation to a bail application for a Zimbabwean accused Ernest Mutangi.

Mutangi is accused of killing Zibani Letsholathebe by strangling him at Game City mall earlier this month. According to facts presented to the court, this came after Letsholathebe allegedly swindled Mutangi on a house deal. Mutangi reported the matter to the police.  They advised him to alert them when he sees Letsholathebe.  Upon bumping into each other at Game City, the two had a physical confrontation which Letsholathebe ended up collapsing.  He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital and a postmortem report says suffocation was the cause of death.

Kgosietsile Ngakaagae, who was once a state counsel now turned criminal lawyer, is representing Mutangi.  The prosecution team is made up of Mmapatsi Tshimologo, Tebogo Mosala and Lesedi Seloka.
