Murderer gets 13 years behind bars

FRANCISTOWN: Justice Moses Chinhengo has sentenced Kelaile Pelogaitse to 13 years' imprisonment for murder.

"I consider that a sentence of 13 years imprisonment is warranted, in this the sentence of imprisonment shall be backdated to July 2005 being the date on which the accused was taken into custody. It is your right to know that if you are not satisfied with my decision having regard to conviction and sentence you are entitled to appeal to the Court of Appeal," said Chinhengo.

He reminded Pelogaitse that in case he decides to lodge an appeal, he had six weeks in which to do so from yesterday.
