Murder Sub Inspector was under investigation

The Botswana Police says that the sub-inspector who shot and killed an inspector before killing himself at Molepolole Police Headquarters last week was being investigated for embezzlement of funds.

Police spokesperson, Christopher Mbulawa yesterday told Mmegi that the inspector, aged 37, was sent from Gaborone to Molepolole to establish how the institution had been spending money.

"The victim was based at the Police Headquarters in Gaborone and worked under the Internal Section that investigates misdeeds within the police service.  He had gone to find out if everyone who had offered services to Molepolole Police had been paid accordingly," Mbulawa said.
