Murder accused has case- prosecutors

The state prosecutors in a murder trial have submitted that the accused person, Tiro Ramontshonyane, has a case to answer.

State counsel Molaletsi during her final submission told the Lobatse High Court that Ramontshonyane should be called to the dock to challenge some incriminating evidence that the state witnesses have put forward. The court heard that the accused and his deceased girlfriend Malebogo Maleme on November 13, 2006, had a misunderstanding, which led to her death. The court heard that the accused person, after allegedly strangling his girlfriend ran to his mother's house, screaming the deceased's names and asking to be taken to the police station. It is alleged that at the police station Ramontshonyane refused to talk to the police officers under the pretext that his mother told him not to talk until he had secured legal representation.

The investigating officer, Detective constable Rulefang, told the court that she was led to the scene of crime by the accused person, but he refused to answer any questions on the incident.
