Relations between President Ian Khama and his Zimbabwean counterpart Robert Mugabe seem to be thawing by the day, the latest sign being a secret visit to Gaborone by second Vice-President John Nkomo yesterday. Nkomo arrived at the head of an 11-member delegation after "driving non-stop for 10 hours".

Relations between President Ian Khama and his Zimbabwean counterpart Robert Mugabe seem to be thawing by the day, the latest sign being a secret visit by second Vice-President John Nkomo yesterday.  Nkomo arrived in Gaborone at the head of an 11-member delegation after "driving non-stop for 10 hours".

The guests drove into the Office of the President (OP) around 9.30am and only the President and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Phandu Skelemani, were on hand to welcome them.  Apparently the agenda was a very brief one, even shorter than that of South African President Jacob Zuma two months ago, Mmegi sources said.  The source said that the delegation drove for 10 hours and were in a hurry to return home and were not prepared to spend any more hours in Gaborone.
