The Botswana Council of Non-Governmental Organisations (BOCONGO) chairman has expressed 'great' disappointed that only one Member of Parliament (MP) attended the 2012-2013 civil society national budget analysis report meeting that was held yesterday.

Thapelo Ndlovu, Chairman of BOCONGO spoke at length of his disappointed with Parliament, saying that they had hoped to inform Parliament of what the people's response to the budget speech (presented to Parliament by Finance and Development Planning Minister Kenneth Matambo in February) has been.

"We believe they have to hear feedback from the people, because the budget is for the people," Ndlovu said.
He said it was necessary for Parliament to attend the meeting because at times, NGOs reach communities that Members of Parliament (MPs) may be unable to reach. "We talk to people on the ground. So political leaders should have the report on people's needs and views because it is about people after all," he said.
