MPs move to hike their salaries

Mmolotsi from the Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) has rejected the Salaries and Allowances Amendment Bill of 2012 asserting that MPs should maintain principle and show that they will not be subjected to salary increments dependent on an individual's emotions.
He reminded MPs that at a BDP congress in Mahalapye last year, President Ian Khama said he would not increase salaries for MPs and councillors. He said it seems like the current efforts to hike salaries are motivated by the president's pity for MPs.
