MPs fault govt on agriculture

Botswana National Front (BNF) president Otsweletse Moupo has called on the government to take initiatives to develop the agricultural sector as it is the mainstay of the rural economy.

He said when the agricultural sector collapses, people from the rural areas migrate to towns. The Gaborone West North and Leader of Official Opposition was speaking in Parliament on Monday during the debate on the budget allocation for the Ministry of Agriculture.

He lamented that the Botswana Agricultural Marketing Board (BAMB) is paying farmers very low prices.
