Mphathi's move welcomed by some Phikwe, BCL employees

SELEBI PHIKWE: Since the news of the imminent departure of the BCL General Manager, Montwedi Mphathi, broke last Saturday, the phones have not stopped ringing.

The seemingly relieved BCL employees are on cloud nine about Mphathi's move. It was the talk of the town on Monday morning. For sometime now, the employees have felt that the General Manager was running the BCL mine as his personal fiefdom and always dismissing employees unexpectedly.

It is generally believed that Mphathi is a very strict manager who always ensured that individual employees conformed and live by the mine's expectations. He is a leader who stood his ground whenever a brawl emerged from any development he implemented in the mine. He put employees in a situation where they either had to comply or lose their jobs.
