MP wants commision to probe BDF tenders

The MP for Francistown South, Wynter Mmolotsi, wants tenders of the Botswana Defence Force (BDF) between 1990 and 2000 investigated.

Tabling a motion to that effect in Parliament on Friday, Mmolotsi said BDF tenders had never been advertised since the formation of the army in 1977 because they are awarded to foreigners, "ruling party operatives and relatives of influential people within the army".

A furious Mmolotsi said beneficiaries of BDF vehicle tenders included: Motor Centre and its directors Satar Dada, Janub Dada, Ysuf Dada and Ebrahim Dada; Seleka Springs of Tshekedi Khama and Anthony Khama; and Zambezi Motors of Ishmael, Andrew, Beatrice, Jonathan and Desmond Nshakazhongwe.
