Motswana, Zimbabwean in court for robbery, rape

FRANCISTOWN: A Motswana and Zimbabwean appeared in a magistrate court here on Wednesday to each face a single charge of allegedly robbing and having unlawful carnal knowledge of a woman.

According to the particulars of the offence, on January 13th, 2013 at Area W location, Thapelo Sechele (20) of Kgaphamadi location in Francistown and Vusimuzi Nkomo (20) from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, acting together allegedly robbed a Zimbabwean woman of P300 and then raped her.

The charge sheet also states that they used force when committing the offences. The duo appeared uneasy when the charge sheet was read to them. State prosecutor Jalome Somolokae told the court that investigations into the matter are almost complete. Senior magistrate Thebeetsile Mulalu granted the second accused person (Sechele) bail. He was granted bail on conditions that does not commit any offence while on bail, report to Tatitown Police Station between 7:30am and 4:30pm every Monday and attend court whenever he is needed.
