Motswaledi stabbed in the back?

As the rift in the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) high command, where party president Ian Khama is pitted against some of the central committee members widens, it has emerged that the publicity and culture sub-committee chairman instigated party secretary general Gomolemo Motswaledi's suspension.

In a confidential letter to the BDP Disciplinary Committee, signed by sub-committee chairman Shaw Kgathi, and which has been leaked to Mmegi, Kgathi complains that Motswaledi has committed various offences.

"He has conducted himself in office in a manner that brings discredit and disrepute to the party in that contrary to Article 6 of the Party, he has failed to show high political and moral qualities and selfless dedication to the cause of the party which is the cause of the people," reads the letter in part.
