Motswaledi resigns from BDP

Gomolemo Motswaledi has resigned from the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP). The former BDP secretary general who is serving a five-year suspension told a packed press conference yesterday that he submitted a letter of resignation in the morning.

He is joining the new Botswana Movement for Democracy otherwise known as Barata-Phathi.

"This (yesterday) morning at 11 o'clock I submitted my letter of resignation to the BDP," he said. He added that he decided to leave the BDP because the party has lost direction.
