Mothudi wants a united opposition

Former Botswana Congress Party candidate for the Kweneng South East Joyce Mmanthobatsang Mothudi says she resigned from that party because she wants to become part of a larger and broader vision that is only feasible under a united opposition.

The former member of the BCP central committee and president of the party's women's wing told Mmegi yesterday: "I searched and have now surely found a political home where I will make a difference.

"I can go to any party at the moment as long as it has the interests of the people at heart and I can make such a difference in the lives of Kweneng South East which is my constituency," she said. Mothudi, who was a founding member of the BCP, added that the last general election results had shown that had opposition parties joined hands, the ruling Botswana Democratic Party would not be messing around with the lives of Batswana, especially the youth, as it is doing now. In her view, a united opposition could even have assumed power in the 2009 general elections.
