More boys drop out of school than girls while Botswana's Western Region has the most primary school dropouts, at 25.6 percent and the Northern Region the least at only 2.3 percent for last year, says a report posted on the official website of the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

The Western Region is followed by South Central at 20.8 percent and Central South at 20.7 percent.

But there was a decline of 5.6 percent in primary school dropouts between 2008 and 2009 when there were 3,628 and 3,425 dropouts respectively. "Generally in all standards, more boys drop out of school than girls," says the report. "For instance, in 2009, 64.4 percent of total dropouts were boys."
