MOLEPOLOLE: The situation here remained tense yesterday after police took over the picket square and forced the striking workers towards the old stadium.

The workers remained defiant though and from time to time encroached into the area the police had demarcated as the boundary - a no go area for the workers.

The action by the police followed a day of chaos in the town after thousands of workers, who were joined by Kgari Sechele Secondary School students thronged the main road from the school towards Mafenyatlala Mall. The crowd barricaded the road with stones and burnt tyres from the school, all the way to the mall.
