Molapise raps lazy BPP comrades

SEKAKANGWE: Some Botswana People's Party (BPP) leaders are lazy and deserve to be kicked out, party president Motlatsi Molapise said over the weekend.Officially opening the BPP elective congress, Molapise said some of them gain leadership positions within various party structures for personal gain, adding that such leaders were responsible for the BPP's declining status over the years.

"We have to push such people out. We constantly have situations where we elect coordinators in regions and even the central committee and they disappoint us by not delivering. The trend has been happening for years."Some of these characters get into leadership positions just because they want to be in power, not necessarily because they want to serve the party or Batswana."Some of them even assume leadership positions because they are wealthy and want to enhance their personal status and push for their own agendas," he said.

Others are even said to be positioning themselves for the Tati East Constituency challenge against Botswana Democratic Party's (BDP) Guma Moyo in the 2014 general elections. In his lengthy address, Molapise did not spare the media and the country's intellectuals either. He charged that intellectuals have failed to use their knowledge to interrogate issues that affect the nation and recommend solutions to the government of the day.
