Environment, Wildlife and Tourism minister Kitso Mokaila was snubbed in Ramotswa on Monday morning when he failed to address a Kgotla meeting to appraise morafe on the on-going strike because nobody turned up to listen to what he had to say.

Addressing a workers' rally in Gaborone later on the same day, South East South legislator Odirile Motlhale said Ramotswa residents and other community leaders were not informed about the meeting until late.

"Kwa gatwe Ramotswa, it's no playground. Kgosi Mosadi Seboko and other leaders of the community were not there. No one was there, he had to go back," he said. Motlhale said that the residents of the village, which makes up part of his constituency, have since realised that the government is failing to address the strike issue, and adding that "they know that the president [Ian Khama] has unleashed the ministers to go around the country and tell people that we in the opposition started the strike and to brand us enemies of the state. But because they are well informed they did not even bother to give him audience," he said. At the rally, the legislator, who is also a Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) treasurer, said the village has been hard-hit by the strike with 27 teachers at Kelemogile Secondary School taking part in it.
