The Ministry of Health (MoH) has requested over P3.5 billion for its recurrent budget for 2011/2012.

Speaking in Parliament this week, the Minister of Health, Reverend Dr John Seakgosing said the request was an increase of over P1 million or 58 percent on the current year (2010/2011). He attributed the increase to the relocation of primary health care services to MOH from the Ministry of Local Government.

Seakgosing said that a total of P2,758,564 or 78 percent of the budget , which is the largest share, would be allocated to the Department of Clinical Services. Ministry headquarters would get the second largest share of P465,576,200 or 13 percent.  The third largest share of P153,976,000, or four percent of the total budget, has been allocated to the Department of Health Sector Relations and Partnerships, which houses mission hospitals.
