Kgomotso Mogami, former wife to deputy speaker Thebe Mogami, has stepped forward to take the place of suspended Gomolemo Motswaledi as Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) parliamentary candidate in Gaborone Central.

She has already filed her name with Tsholetsa House and is understood to have been the only candidate to signal intention to stand in the BDP primaries slated for Wednesday. Motswaledi was unopposed when he was declared the BDP Gaborone Central candidate last year.

In previous media reports, vocal members of the party in the constituency were quoted as saying they will shun whoever replaces Motswaledi who has been suspended as BDP secretary general.
