Mogae's speech did not go far enough - teachers

Teachers' organisations have labelled President Festus Mogae's last state of the nation address as a sad one that will be hard to forget long after he has left office.

Speaking to Mmegi after the speech, Botswana Secondary Teachers' Union (BOSETU) president Eric Ditau said the President had not addressed what the government intends to do about the pressing issues buffeting the education sector.

"We are generally disappointed because he had not addressed the issues that we had expected him to address," Ditau said.
