President Festus Mogae has slammed ruling party MPs for critical and wayward comments against his government. The President told the 42nd national council meeting of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) over the weekend that he is gravely concerned by the rampant individualism among party MPs.

"While MPs have the right to criticise and correct whatever may be going wrong in their view, they should not forget that they are part of a collective," he told a packed hall at Maharaj Restaurant in Gaborone. Mogae said that there is a disturbing tendency nowadays for issues that used to be dealt with in a matter of hours in the party to take days and even weeks.

Lately a number of ruling party MPs such as Boyce Sebetela and Duke Lefhoko have been hitting hard at the government for poor service delivery and casting doubts on many policies.
