Mogae graces Malawi Independence celebrations

Former president Festus Mogae recently officiated at the Malawi 51st independence celebrations dinner held by the Society of Malawians in Botswana (SOMABO) at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC).

The celebrations were held under the theme, ‘Towards Economic Transformation in Malawi for Inclusive Development ‘.

Speaking at the event, Mogae said he was impressed by the idea of inclusive development, because economic growth is important to Africa. He said he was honoured to be part of the celebrations as Botswana and Malawi have had deepened bilateral relations for many years, adding that the two countries share similar challenges and qualities. Mogae also reminisced about his trips to Malawi and all the relationships he has with Malawians.
