Following a week of a stay in hospital under doctors' supervision, former president Festus Mogae has been discharged.
Mogae was hospitalised in South Africa last week following an undisclosed illness. However, through a statement this morning, government has announced that the former president has been discharged and has returned home.
“The office of the President wishes to inform members of the public that Festus Mogae, former president of the Republic of Botswana, has returned to Botswana following his discharge from a private hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa,” reads a statement from government communications.
Last week President Mokgweetsi Masisi sent a delegation of elders and senior government officials to check on Mogae.
