President Festus Mogae's external trips cost the taxpayer more than P8 million in one year, Parliament has been told. The Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Daniel Kwelagobe, said Mogae visited 20 countries in the period between April l, 2006 and April 1, 2007.

Kwelagobe was responding to a question from Filbert Nagafela, the Member of Parliament for Letlhakeng West, who wanted to know the number and cost of external trips by Mogae during that period.

Nagafela had also wanted to know the number of investors attracted to Botswana resulting from the President's trips in the same period.
