The Ministry of Education and Skills Development (MoESD) will not say why the report on the conduct of the 2010 examinations was not presented to the last session of Parliament as was promised.

The ministry's public relations officer, Oarabile Phefo, says he does not know what is causing the delay but will ask the Permanent Secretary, Grace Muzila. However, the report "will be presented to Parliament in July and will be made public afterwards," Phefo disclosed. During the investigations last year, teachers' unions pointed a finger at the ministry and Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) for abandoning talks on invigilation.

"Financially, the decision is proving to be costly," Tobokani Rari of the Botswana Sector of Educators Trade Union told the investigating committee. "BEC chose to go the expensive way, while there was a cheaper option, had the negotiations continued." Despite the fact that the meetings were advertised in the government owned Daily News as open to the public and the media, the media was often barred from the hearings.
