MoE suffers another loss in court

The Ministry of Education (MoE) suffered another blow when the High Court declared on Monday that members of Botswana Teachers Union cannot be compelled to invigilate or supervise external examinations.

Justice Mpaphi Phumaphi ruled that overseeing external exams is the work of the Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) and not teachers, as the ministry stated in a directive.

The decision comes after the ministry recently lost another court case to trade unionist and former headmaster, Japhta Radibe.
