Modubule speaks on welfare rights

The former chairman of Botswana National Front (BNF) and MP for Lobatse, Nehemiah Modubule says his party will introduce unemployment benefits for those people who are not working.

Addressing a political rally on Wednesday at the Gaborone station bus rank, Modubule said "employment is a right of every citizen and therefore those who are not working should have an allowance".

He said employment is not a privilege but the right of every Motswana. The Lobatse legislator accused the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) government of encouraging unemployment with its policies and programmes, which are not made for all Batswana but for a small section of the society.
