Moatlhodi attacks women again

TONOTA: Tonota North MP, Pono Moatlhodi was at it again taking a swipe at women who want to have a free ride into Parliament.

Last Saturday, the maverick legislator was given the task of thanking the speakers at the 40th anniversary of Shashe River School and he had the audience in stitches using anecdotes to illustrate his points. After congratulating the other speakers, Moatlhodi, who had arrived a bit late and walked at a brisk pace with the wind blowing his Africa attire set his attention on Lufu Maunganidze, the first female head of the school.

"It is gratifying to know that there was a female head at this school. You should imagine, how she had spent time at school sweating blood and tears as she studied mathematics sciences and all those tough subjects. She actually earned her stripes and needs to be congratulated for that. She is not like some of the females who want to get on to the bus and not pay their way," he said as the audience smirked. In Parliament, Moatlhodi was one of the legislators who opposed a motion calling for the increase of nominated MPs from four to eight to cater for women. The motion was prompted by the fact that women are not finding it easy to get to Parliament hence the President should be given room to nominate more female MPs.
