Following President Ian Khama’s declaration of the 2015-2016-drought year, the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) has proposed a P25 million budget towards drought relief projects.

The Minister of Agriculture, Patrick Ralotsia told Mmegi in a brief interview this week that they have budgeted P25 million for drought relief initiatives under his ministry.  He said that this represents a significant drop from last year's budget because it is a short-term measure, which will be reviewed at the end of the year.

The P25 million is part of government’s drought relief plan to cushion the effects of drought caused by poorly distributed and below normal rainfall in most parts of the country.
