Mmopane election set for July

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has set Saturday 28 July as the date for the Mmopane ward by-election.

"Nomination of candidates shall be held on the 6th July, 2007 between 0900am to 1.00pm and 2.30pm to 5.pm", states the press statement.
Tau Manthe Primary School was identified as the host for nomination of candidates. In the battle to claim the ward, the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) has fielded Christopher Sebego.
Sebego is the son of former councillor, the late Piet Mogatusi. Patrick Gugah will represent the Botswana National Front (BNF) while the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) has not officially indorsed its primary elections winner, Phagenyana Phage.
A complaint alleging that Phage had rigged the elections is before the party's electoral board.
