Mmolotsi labels Guma a 'mad man'

The newly elected Botswana Democratic Party Chairman Guma Moyo received a baptism of fire from his former colleagues at the Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) yesterday.

At a press conference the party hosted, BMD Secretary-General Wynter Mmolotsi yesterday labeled Moyo a mad man and cautioned him that BMD is made up of principled individuals.Mmolotsi said there was no way the BMD would disband and join the BDP as Moyo claimed. He further dismissed Moyo's claims that the BDP would win the entire 57 constituencies.Moyo recently said his main aim was to bring back all those who left with him to form the BDP splinter party in 2010.

"We don't think that Rre Moyo is in his right senses. He should remember that all the presidents have failed to conquer all the 57 constituencies. Sir Seretse Khama failed to do that, Sir Ketumile Masire failed to do that, Festus Mogae failed to do that and the current President has also failed to get the constituencies. We do not know what formula Moyo will be using to achieve that," Mmolotsi said.Mmolotsi questioned the magic that Moyo possessed, stressing that if it was so logical, Moyo would have managed to get at least 60 percent of the votes at their Maun congress.
