Mmidi-Phuduhudu admits defeat over mayoral seat

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Nominated councillor in the Selebi-Phikwe East constituency, Mmapula Mmidi-Phuduhudu has welcomed the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) caucus' decision to endorse Tebogo Matlhogonolo as the town mayor.

In an interview with Mmegi this week, Mmidi-Phuduhudu said that she had showed interest in contesting for the mayoral seat only to be informed that Matlhogonolo was also eyeing the position.

She however said that she feels that Matlhogonolo deserves the position.  Mmidi-Phuduhudu pointed out that Matlhogonolo could have got the position in 2009 but unfortunately things did not go as planned. She further said that she did not have a problem with the party's decision and she had even voted for Matlhogonolo during the mayoral elections.
