In an interview with Mmegi this week, Mmidi-Phuduhudu said that she had showed interest in contesting for the mayoral seat only to be informed that Matlhogonolo was also eyeing the position.

She further said that she did not have a problem with the party's decision and she had even voted for Matlhogonolo during the mayoral elections.
