Assistant Minister of Health, Gaotlhaetse Matlhabaphiri has confirmed that there is maladministration at Sefhare Hospital.

He told Parliament yesterday that an internal audit at the hospital found that there was failure to adhere to supplies procedures. The audit revealed poor record keeping with regard to the hospital supplies functions; failure to maintain drug inventory records at the pharmacy resulting in discrepancies between the physical balances and the ledger balances; failure to maintain a file of doctors' practising certificates; lack of maintenance of the advances register and the votes ledger; and non-maintenance of the leave register.

He said that the supplies management problems were addressed by enforcing regulations, which included a proper filing system. "A recommendation to surcharge the supplies officer concerned has been made to the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning," Matlhabaphiri said.
