Speaking at the signing ceremony event held at the ministry headquarters on Friday, Nkate stated that his earlier concern about the slow progress in the process of making the university a reality have been put to rest. "I was concerned that for the last few months, we were not making speedy development but I soon realised that speedy developments might not bring the expected quality results," he stated.
He indicated that the ministry has overcome many obstacles in its bid to make BIUST a reality. He said relevant legislation for the university has been put in place, the land where it is to be built has been made available after the owners have been compensated and the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) has been completed. "We have already received a draft of the EIA and the final report would be availed soon. We also appointed a council which has put in place an implementation team," Nkate explained.
