Millions Spent On Presidential Mansions

The Assistant Minister Of Labour and Home Affairs, Gaotlhaetse Matlhbaphiri has confirmed that the prisons department barred officers from making direct submission to the presidential commission appointed to review public service salaries and condition of service.

He was answering a question from Gaborone Central Member of Parliament, Dumelang Saleshando. Matlhabaphiri said that the prisons management decided that it would be more effective and representative as a consolidated submission from the prisons headquarters.

"Subsequently, it transpired that some officers were not happy with the exclusive approach and the commissioner of prisons instructed the prisons commander to inform staff that they were free to make individual representations to the commission notwithstanding that a departmental submission will still be made", he told Parliament on Friday.
